There’s something about seeing the sun sparkling off of crystalline waters, and glimpsing marine life at play that makes an ordinary drive to your job seem like something spectacular day after day. Not to mention how it helps you return to a simpler place and forget the stresses of the day as you drive home from work. In Fort Walton Beach, we work hard and we play harder. Area water sports allow visitors and residents alike a whole new way to enjoy the gorgeous waters. For an experience unlike any other, you may want to take in an unparalleled view of the coast from hundreds of feet in the air harness to a parasail chute. For a full-throttle adventure that puts you in the driver’s seat, try out a wave runner and feel the wind in your hair as you speed over the glittering waters. If you’re seeking a more serene and relaxed day, we’ve got that too. Grab your beach chair and towel and head out to any area beach access. Take in the graceful sea oats blowing in the gentle gulf breeze. Feel the warm sun on your skin, and the silky sand beneath your feet. Take a deep breath and let the salty sea air fill your lungs. Listen to the waves as they gently break over the shore, and hear the call of sea birds as they take flight. If you’re ready for a picnic in the park, you’ll have your choice of location. Some local favorites include Ferry Park and Fort Walton Beach Landing. Ferry Park has a children’s playground, two ball fields, four recently resurfaced tennis courts, and a one-mile fitness trail with an 18-hole disc golf course interwoven within and around the trail.
